The sales representative and the construction manager were great. After we went to closing, we were subject to very poor treatment. I guess that the saying "You put down your money and take your chances" is true with MI Homes. The after the sale representatives were either incompetent, ignorant and/or apathetic. Multiple attempted contacts were unreturned. It has been over two and half years and our final requested service has not been taken care of.
There are plenty of attorneys out there; we just need at least 50 customers to file a complaint. Another thing is there are few shoe molding in the bathroom which allows water to go through the ceiling and out the nearest vent. The ac is undersized, you will have a 5 ton handler and a 4 ton unit which causes static pressure and the ac unit will die before the manufacturer's warranty is up.

After signing a CD with a 10% percent down payment. The closing date was moved and another closing disclosure was sent with a 20% down three days before the new closing date set. I had to reject the new closing disclosure. (The Loan Officer Nathon was not helpful. I had to keep calling in order to get information.) He was nonchalant after telling us the underwriters wants 20%. I asked what next, he said maybe I can look for a new lender or get a third party to co-sign. The new loan company we are currently working with are very responsive in terms of communication.
The house has never heated or cooled evenly and the ac unit was installed with a cracked drip pan. My doors would not shut properly; they had to be reinstalled. All 17 of my windows have been repaired and now 4 of the repaired windows are bad again. The water in the sinks and tub do not drain very well and I have interior cracks in the garage. My cabinets were never primed which led to the paint coming off within 6 months of moving in.

If you notice a problem early on, take pictures and document every conversation and follow up by email. I will tell you first hand that if you are in a 2 story home beware of the stucco issues on the 2nd floor. Also the flashing around the house is poorly designed and will crack which allows water to come into the home. The home was built- but I am still struggling to get things done a year in 2022. No Air balance, Painting, Hardwood floor, and installing Dead SOD! I do not understand, the lender said everything was possible but when I got my assigned loan officer he told me that was never possible.
Luckily the sill plate although very wet, it had not rotted enough that it had to be replaced. The door is now level because my contractor had to totally remove the door and reinstall it. Now it opens properly and the lock works with forcing. I moved into a MI home in Walnut Creek, Lancaster, SC July 2020 I have a sinkhole and erosion in my backyard they are a where of and said they will fix it... Been emailing for a year, all I get is someone will contact you... I need it fixed now while I'm still alive...
